Dear The Internet,
I’ve known you for a long time. We’ve been through a lot. From my very first web forays as a wee tween playing games at the slow, cheater-friendly speed that dial-up allowed, to the several hours that I now use to waste enrich my time with each day, enjoying all the features that you have to create an enjoyable online life.
But we’ve had our troubles too. From your propensity to suddenly surprise with spam, porn, or worse, Harry Potter slash fiction, to my reluctance to relinquish my lurker status and make a commitment to you, there have been times when I’ve ignored you, or you’ve sulked by randomly dropping out, or in a childish rage, redirected me once again to porn. It hasn’t been the most stable of relationships on either side.
But I think we’ve reached a turning point. I’m willing to share with you if you’ll share with me. I’m willing to post my musings and my happenings on you, for all to see. For this I hope that your connection will always be true, that you won’t cut out in the middle of downloading, and that all ads and spam will be blocked from my eyes.
I trust you, Internet, despite all my misgivings. Let’s try to make this work, okay?
Love Hayley.
P.S. Jen, this is all your fault!
“I can tell that we are gonna be friends”.
The White Stripes, “We’re Going to be Friends”
Well looky here, if it isn’t little Hayley.
it’s always my fault huh? Fair enough.
Blog buds 4 EVA!
Well to be fair I was already on a slippery slope, but it’s always fun to blame somebody.
BEST BLOG FRIENDS 4 EVER!!!
hello pumpkin.
i love you.
lets play soon.
hopscotch?
you name it.
xox
I love you too Bec!
I’m down for hopscotch. Drunken hopscotch! There has to be a drinking game that we can make involving it.
I just saw your tag line thingy. Oh my goodness you’re only a year older than my brother. I keep forgetting what a youngun you are! (ahem, two years difference is alot in high school years- if we were dating, I’d practically be cradle snatching)
Ba-jing! The internets is my friend too! I remember the fun we had together staring at midgets having brief tiny intercourse marathons with other small people. Yes, those were the days.
Anyway, it’s good to see you caught up with the ever addictive world of internet writings. Sadly, Myspace is the like the popular kid at school and I want to touch his goodies.
Hayley, it seems we both began our blogs on the same day. ah, how romantic! On reading your poetic intro and having read jen’s very intelligent and intimidating insights (damn you witty people), i now cringe at my own attempts…
Looking forward to watching many a random you tube clips.
xx
Jen: If we were dating, you’d be doing a lot more than cradle-snatching!
Dave: I…I..I freaking love you. Promise me that you will fill my blog with such commenting gold EVERY DAY!
Zoe: I love your blog already! And I doubt mine will continue to be so interesting, I just wanted a really snarky intro.
